Fishing Maine ia

Lodges and Camping
lodges on the water  Many lodges and bed/ breakfast inns are available from one end of the state to the other. Maine has been a tourist haven for a century or more. The numerous Inns and lodges are testamony enough that vistors are welcome everywhere.

For many years I went to Chamberlin Lake during the winter ice fishing. Getting there the day before would give me the jump on favorite fishing holes on the 26 mile long lake.
I stayed at several different camps over the years that were provided by Nuggents Camp owned by a Mr. Richardson at that time. These are rustic log camps built by hand. The sinks were even carved from logs. Most all had porches with railings and stairs made from cedar trees and split white cedar logs.

These camps were all heated by firewood that was provided for you on a daily basis and replenished as it was used.

On Chamberlain Lake a fisherman might choose to stay at camp and just fish out front. Trout , White Fish, Cusk and Togue could be caught anywhere in this huge lake. Or head out to Eagle Lake or one of the many lakes that easily driven to by snow sled on a day trip.
